For Employers

Our clients get to see the best of the best from each source country. Australia is a dream location for them. We attract the cream of their teachers – generally with five or more years teaching experience.

The population of degree-qualified teachers in the countries we target exceeds 2m. If we recruit 1,000 EC teachers and educators a year – that’s less than 0.5% of their teachers; their elite in the top few percentiles of both English fluency and teaching ability.

Yes. ELSS’s main solution includes pre-vetted candidates. We choose between pathways based on either extra study or a skilled migration visa.

Currently, a student visa or a skilled work visa. It depends on your needs (cash flow and time criticality of staff shortage) and their degree and tested English scores. We service both visa pathways.

We will continue to be able to service your needs as, over time, inevitable changes occur in immigration, education, and industry regulations. For instance, the lead time for issue of work visas for teachers has recently dramatically reduced.

It depends on the visa, and on the teacher’s qualifications and certified English language proficiency. For a student visa landing costs before our standard industry recruitment fees are currently under $5,000. Skilled work visas have higher process costs. Students normally pay the bulk of tuition costs for any studies. Use of additional studies can be highly cost effective for employers.

These teachers have strong incentives to stay with a good employer. They wish to become sponsored for permanent residency which usually takes over four years after arrival to be granted. A credible offer of PR sponsorship acts like ‘golden handcuffs’.

Fair treatment and your demonstration of sponsoring other staff for PR will probably give you a higher retention rate for this cohort than hiring Australian citizens and permanent residents.

We will guide you on Australian market salaries for overseas-qualified staff and award minimums. We will also make you aware of the cash flows faced by recruits paying overseas student tuition fees.

Three keyways.

  1. International travel and knowledge on skill levels and conditions for teachers in developing countries.
  2. Exhaustive research on the experiences and needs of all stakeholders: recruits, employers, regulators, education providers, immigration advisers, language certifiers.
  3. Finally, designing steps and options end-to-end for every stakeholder; that’s every step from initial enquiries through to completion of each stakeholder’s role in the pathway, including the teacher’s arrival in Australia and journey towards the goal of PR.

We will help you gain a skilled work visa if your English is outstanding.

Alternatively, we will help you gain a student visa to enrol in studies (usually two years). This helps convert your overseas teaching degree to an Australian Bachelor of EC Teaching, whilst you further improve your English.

An existing degree or other qualification in EC education. The ideal specialisation is for ages from birth to 6 years, but the age range 6 to 12 years can also be accepted.

You need English that’s suitable for teaching and for entry to studies. For example, IELTS 6.5 average would usually be sufficient. If your English is outstanding, you may qualify for recognition as a teacher here without requiring further studies.

This varies depending on visa application processing times which, fortunately, are becoming shorter. Our target is 15 weeks, plus the notice period you give your current employer.

It’ll be about 4 weeks from initial contact to a job offer and a month more to lodge a visa application.

Soon most visas will be issued within six weeks, but currently that is the main source of delay.

No, you NEVER pay any money to us. Employers pay all our recruitment fees.

Generally, almost all outlays to come here will be paid by employers. A contribution from you is negotiated with your employer. Most of your share of costs is slowly recovered from your future wages. Where needed, employers generally pay for your first four weeks accommodation.

Yes. Overseas teachers enjoy the usual wages and excellent conditions enjoyed by Australians.

We have prepared budget models based on actual wage levels, living and study costs and will share that information with you before you commit to any study, work, or expenditures.

No, there is no bond that prevents our recruits from changing employers.

But it’s unlikely you’ll wish to leave. Usually, your initial employer will want to sponsor an application for permanent residency for you after about four years’ service. There’s also an ethical obligation on you to support an employer who has invested in your relocation and taken a chance on hiring an overseas trained teacher.

Yes. If you wish, we’ll ask one of our teachers already placed in study and work here to chat with you.

We rely on referrals from teachers for our success. We want you to succeed here and recommend us to other good teachers.

Potentially anywhere. But most of our jobs are in capital cities including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Yes. We help you on arrival and through your initial months here studying and working. We work with employers to arrange initial accommodation, and assistance at the airport. We help you with tips and information on living in Australia and stay in regular contact with you.

Yes. Partners and children are eligible as secondary applicants on your Student Visa application. You and your partner would both gain work rights. But note your children are not eligible for free schooling prior to permanent residency.

Also, upfront expenditures including on health insurance, immigration advice, and extra visa application fees can increase your initial outlays considerably.
